HOT ROLLED COILS
ACC Consortium Distributor
Hot-rolled coils (HRC) are sheets of wound steel strip and are produced at hot-rolling mills.
These products are widely used for construction, the machine industry, car manufacturing, the production of general-purpose, construction, oil and gas and special-purpose pipes, rails and production of cold-rolled products.
Production of hot-rolled coils
Hot-rolled coil (wide strip) products are produced by semi-continuous or continuous hot-rolling mills. Continuously cast or rolled slabs made of carbon, low-alloy and alloy steel grades are used as a semi-finished product to make steel coils.
HRC production stages:
Heating the slab for rolling in a reheating furnace
Hydraulic descaler to remove scale from the surface of the feedstock
Rolling in roughing and finishing
Monitoring the cooling of the rolled strips
Winding the finished products on down-coilers
Finishing the hot-rolled steel coils, cutting, acceptance, packaging, labelling
